Flexibility & time off

The time you need to recharge, and the flexibility to get your best work done. 

  • Volunteer leave – you are entitled to be absent from work for the purpose of performing volunteer service work in times of emergency, crisis or disaster 
  • Career Break – Up to 6 months extended unpaid leave, linked to personal development (studies, training etc.), may be taken as an extension of the standard leave day
  • Blood donor’s leave – up to four hours paid leave every six months 
  • Wellness Day – permanent employees are entitled to access 1 of the personal leave days per year to use as wellness days

EDUCATION ASSISTANCE

If applicable, you may be entitled to Education Assistance, which means we will reimburse an agreed amount of the cost of education fees, including course fees and approved textbooks, on the successful completion of each unit/course module/course.

STUDY LEAVE

We offer two days of paid study leave per calendar year for the purposes of exam preparation, exam attendance or assignment completion. Extended unpaid leave of up to two weeks may be taken for the same purpose.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

At Little Scholars we encourage and support you to work towards achieving your potential and to succeed in your role. We have a Learning & Development pathway from induction onwards that will enhance your understanding of the sector as a whole.

Lead Educators

All the standard benefits plus:

  • $2 per hour above award wages
  • Access to monthly equipment and resource budget
  • Dedicated non-contact time per week
  • Opportunity to receive a lead educator bonus of $1000 per annum for taking on additional roles within the campus 
  • Support in implementing your program through our Outdoor Educators, Environment Warriors, non-contact Educational Leaders and Pedagogical Leader
  • Opportunity to attend quarterly training in the Collective Curriculum and abecedarian approach. 

Educational Leaders

All the standard benefits plus: 

  • 90% discount off childcare fees
  • $2 per hour above award wages
  • Educational Leader allowance of $4,000 per annum
  • Free annual attendance to the ACA national conference including meals, accommodation, and gala dinner
  • Annual Educational Leader Conference
  • Monthly networking meetings

Second in Charge (2IC)

  • Higher duties pay when performing Centre Manager role

Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs)

All the standard benefits plus:

  • $5 per hour above award wage
  • Additional 2 weeks annual leave (6 weeks in total)
  • $5,000 annual bonus
  • One full day non-contact programming time per week 
  • Free attendance the ACA national conference including meals, accommodation and gala dinner
  • One day per month ECT network meeting
  • Access to and control of monthly equipment budgets
  • Specialised professional ECT uniform
  • End of year ECT networking lunch.

Time Off

We know there are times when you wish to take time off for recreation, holiday or other responsibilities. In addition to your entitlement to annual leave and personal leave, we offer other leave options which include:

BLOOD DONOR’S LEAVE

Up to 4 hours paid leave every six months.

CAREER BREAK

Up to 6 months extended unpaid leave, linked to personal development (studies, training etc.), may be taken as an extension of the standard leave days.

VOLUNTEER LEAVE

You are entitled to be absent from work for the purpose of performing volunteer service work in times of emergency, crisis, or disaster.

WELLNESS DAY

Permanent employees are entitled to access 1 of the personal leave days per year to use as wellness days.
