Common Questions

Your questions answered.

Everything you need to know about our nursery program.

What ages do you cater for in nursery at Little Scholars?
We welcome babies from 6 weeks to 15 months in our nursery studios across all our South East Queensland campuses — including Gold Coast, Brisbane, Redland Bay and Ipswich. If you're unsure whether your baby is ready, our team is happy to chat through starting age and settling-in options.
How does nursery help babies settle in for the first time?
We use a gentle, gradual settling approach tailored to each baby. Before your child starts at our nursery, we learn their existing routine, sleep cues, feeding preferences and personality. On the first few days, parents are welcome to stay as long as needed. Our educators use cuddles, familiar objects and consistent caregiving to help babies feel safe and secure — and our daily app updates keep you connected every step of the way.
What does a typical day look like in the Little Scholars nursery?
We follow your baby's individual rhythm — not a fixed group timetable. A typical day in our nursery includes a warm morning handover, sensory floor play, Pram Kinder outdoor time, individual feeds and rest periods following your baby's home routine, music and movement, and a full pick-up handover summary covering feeds, naps, mood and special moments from the day.
Do you follow my baby's individual feeding and sleep routine?
Absolutely. We follow your baby's existing routine as closely as possible and adjust as their needs change. We document feeds, sleeps and nappy changes throughout the day and share this with you via the app, so you always know exactly what's happening.
What meals and nutrition is provided in nursery care?
All meals are prepared fresh onsite daily and approved by Nutrition Australia. We provide three-course meals and snacks. For babies not yet on solids, we work with you on the transition. Purée options are always available. Nappies and wipes are included in your daily fee — no need to pack them.
How do parents get daily updates from the nursery?
We use the Little Scholars family app to send real-time updates throughout the day — photos, feed logs, sleep records and notes on your baby's mood and milestones. You can check in whenever you like and always feel connected to your baby's day.
What outdoor experiences are there for babies at Little Scholars?
Every baby at Little Scholars gets outside every single day through our Pram Kinder program — part of our Outdoor Explorers initiative. Babies head out in our four-seat prams with their educators to explore the local community. These sensory-rich outings support early brain development, emotional regulation and a lifelong love of nature — even before children can walk. It's one of the features families love most about our nursery childcare in SE Queensland.
What qualifications do Little Scholars nursery educators have?
All our educators hold or are working towards qualifications in early childhood education and care as required by Queensland regulations. Many hold a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Every campus maintains the required educator-to-child ratios for nursery-aged children, ensuring each baby receives attentive, personalised care.

Care and connections

Building strong connection

In the nursery, we focus on building strong connections between our educators, infants, and families, which eases the transition period of separation for the child from their parent.

Our dedicated educators form bonds with the babies, ensuring plenty of one-on-one time with each child, reading, playing, and cuddling to develop trust and connection. They also focus on building heartfelt, trusting relationships with your family.

By connecting closely with you, we learn about your baby’s unique routines, preferences, and needs. Together, we create a seamless bridge between home and our nurturing environment, making sure mealtimes, naps, and play are consistent and comforting. With open communication and gentle collaboration, we become an extension of your family, supporting your baby’s wellbeing and growth while giving you peace of mind.

Play-Based Learning

Playtime is essential for a child’s growth

At Little Scholars, we believe that playtime is essential for a child’s growth and development, and we have designed our campuses with that in mind. Our stunning campuses have expansive rooms and large outdoor playgrounds complete with water features, sandpits, climbing equipment, and more.

This ensures that your baby will have plenty of opportunity to explore, learn, and make new friends. Each campus has been custom-built to suit the needs of the local community and families, making your child feel right at home from day one.

Health & Wellness

A healthy and happy child is a thriving child

We believe that a healthy and happy child is a thriving child. Our programs for babies include outdoor pram walks, weekly music and dance classes, fresh-cooked, nutritionist-approved meals with local ingredients made especially for babies by our in-house chef, and age-appropriate climbing and obstacle equipment. These programs encourage movement, helping develop and build muscle, balance, coordination, motor skills, problem-solving, and more.

Our babies don’t miss out on fun just because they’re little, programs for babies include:

Safety and happiness

Your baby’s safety and happiness are our top priorities

When they’re old enough they can begin to take advantage of our extra-curricular programs, which include outdoor pram walks, music and dance classes, sports, and more. We will also teach them to be environmental warriors, as at Little Scholars, we take our environmental commitment very seriously, and we believe in instilling these values in the younger generation.

Your baby’s safety and happiness are our top priorities, and we are committed to providing the best possible infant childcare services across the South East Queensland. We’d love to welcome you and your little one into our warm and nurturing family.
