Why join your local Pram Pals?

Build Your Village

Joining a local mum walk helps you meet other mothers who truly “get it,” so you feel less alone and more supported. Over time, those regular chats can grow into real friendships and a trusted local network you can lean on.

Gentle movement

Pram walks offer low‑impact, postpartum‑friendly movement that you can do with your baby, without needing childcare or a gym. This gentle exercise supports recovery, boosts energy, and can improve mood and sleep.

Fresh air, fresh energy

Getting outside with the pram gives you fresh air and daylight, a change of scenery from home, and can help regulate your nervous system and energy levels.

A walking group designed for this season of life

Getting out of the house with a newborn is an achievement on its own. Pram Pals is what makes it worth doing.

Every week, local mums and bubs meet at a Little Scholars campus to walk together, let the babies explore at the park, and share a morning tea. It's low-pressure, it's free, and it's run by our warm and experienced early childhood educators — so you know you're in good hands.

There's no agenda, no pressure to be "on," and no prerequisite other than showing up. Whether your baby is three weeks old or walking, whether you're a first-time mum or have been around the block a few times — Pram Pals is for you.

💬 You don't need to be enrolled at Little Scholars to come. Pram Pals is a free community program, open to all local families.

What happens at a Pram Pals session?

Each session follows a simple rhythm — relaxed, friendly, and always with morning tea at the end.

1

Arrive & meet

Rock up to your nearest Little Scholars campus, meet your educator host and the other mums. No awkward introductions required — it always just flows.

2

Walk together

A relaxed pram walk around the local neighbourhood or park. Flat, pram-friendly routes that work at whatever pace you need today.

3

Baby park play

A baby-led play session in the park — fresh air, sensory input, and their very first social experiences with other bubs.

4

Morning tea ☕

The part everyone looks forward to. Sit down with a cuppa, swap stories, and realise you are absolutely not the only one doing it hard some days.

The early months can be lonely. They don't have to be.

Studies consistently show that social connection is one of the most powerful factors in a new mum's mental health — yet many women go weeks without meaningful adult interaction. A weekly walk won't fix everything. But it's a start, and sometimes a start is everything.

More than just a walk

Here's what mums tell us keeps them coming back every week.

Build your village

The right people make the whole thing easier. Pram Pals puts you in a room (well, a park) with other mums going through exactly the same season of life — and those weekly walk chats have a way of turning into real friendships.

Postpartum-friendly movement

Gentle, low-impact, and pram-friendly — you can move your body without needing childcare, a gym membership, or a babysitter. Walking is one of the most evidence-backed forms of postnatal exercise, and this is the easiest way to make it happen.

Fresh air changes everything

Even on the days you don't feel like it, getting outside is one of the most effective mood-lifters you have. Natural light, movement, and green space all contribute to reducing stress and lifting energy levels.

Your baby's first social experiences

Babies learn through watching and being around other babies — even from the earliest weeks. The park play portion of each session gives your bub gentle sensory input, new faces, and the very beginning of social development.

A reason to get out of the house

Having a committed time in the calendar that isn't a medical appointment makes a real difference. Pram Pals gives you a standing weekly plan — the kind of routine that early-parenthood desperately needs, but rarely has.

Guided by early childhood experts

Our educators don't just facilitate the walk — they're genuinely warm, knowledgeable people who care about the families in their local community. If you have questions about child development, settling, routines, or what's ahead — they're a brilliant resource.

What to bring on the day

We keep it simple. Here's everything you need — and nothing you don't.

✅ Bring
  • Your pram and bub (the only real requirement)
  • A water bottle for you
  • Sunscreen — Queensland sun is no joke
  • A snack or milk for your baby
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • A hat for both of you
  • An open mind — even if you're not much of a "group" person
❌ Leave at home
  • Any expectation to have it together
  • Your credit card — it's completely free
  • Worry about being "too new" or not knowing anyone
  • A perfectly dressed baby (bonus points if they're in their onesie)
  • The pressure to stay the full duration if your bub isn't having it

Questions we get asked all the time

Yes — completely, no strings attached. You don't need to be enrolled at Little Scholars to come, and there's no cost to attend. It's a community program, and that's exactly what it's meant to be.
Not at all. Pram Pals is open to any mum in the local community — whether you've never heard of Little Scholars before or you're already enrolled. We just want to support families in our neighbourhood.
There's no minimum age — newborns are very welcome! As long as your little one is happy to come along for the ride (literally), they're welcome. Toddlers who walk alongside the pram are fine too.
We'll always let registered participants know in advance if weather means we're adjusting plans. Queensland storms are real — we work around them rather than ignoring them. Pop your details in the registration form and we'll keep you updated.
Absolutely. Many mums come along with a mix of ages. The park play portion of the session is great for toddlers too — they just get a different kind of session than the bubs do, which is honestly perfect.
Honestly, every person who comes to their first Pram Pals says this — and every single one has been glad they came. Our educator hosts are brilliant at making people feel welcome from the moment they arrive. You just have to show up; we'll handle the rest.
We're actively expanding. Little Scholars has 17 campuses across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich, and Redland Bay — and we'd love to bring Pram Pals to more of them. If there's a suburb you'd love to see added, reach out and let us know. Community interest is exactly what drives these decisions.
