" ★★★★★

"I visited three centres before choosing Little Scholars. The difference in warmth was immediately obvious. Our daughter started Prep reading confidently and we credit so much of that to her time at Ashmore."

"Dropping my son off used to break my heart. Within two weeks at Little Scholars he was running in the door. The educators genuinely know him — not just his name, but who he is."

Your research guide

What to look for when visiting a childcare centre.

Every parent deserves to choose with confidence. Here are the four things the best early learning centres have in common — and how Little Scholars answers every one of them.

01

Educators who know your child as an individual

Not just by name — by personality, interests, what makes them laugh and what makes them anxious. Look for low staff turnover and genuine warmth.

Little Scholars: named educators, low turnover, deep family relationships
02

A curriculum that builds real skills, not just keeps children busy

Ask to see how learning is documented. Look for evidence of intentional programs that develop literacy, numeracy, social skills and creativity through play.

Little Scholars: The Collective curriculum, EYLF-aligned, documented daily
03

An environment that feels safe, stimulating and genuinely joyful

Watch children's faces when you visit. Are they engaged? Do they look comfortable? Is the space warm and orderly or rushed and chaotic?

Little Scholars: purpose-built campuses, nature play, calm and inviting spaces
04

Transparency about fees, CCS and what's actually included

Quality care should be affordable and clearly communicated. Ask what's included in the fee and what isn't.

Little Scholars: All meals included. CCS support provided.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want
to know before your tour.

Can't find what you're looking for? Call us on 1300 896 139 — we're happy to help.

What happens during a Little Scholars campus tour?
Your campus manager or member of the leadership team will greet you and personally walk your family through every part of the campus — the learning studios, outdoor play spaces, kitchen and gardens. You'll meet the educators who would care for your child, have every question answered about fees, curriculum, availability and the Child Care Subsidy, and leave with a clear picture of what life at Little Scholars looks like. There is absolutely no pressure to enrol on the day.
How long does a campus tour take?
Most tours take around 30 to 45 minutes, though many families find themselves staying longer as they chat with educators and explore the campus. We set aside as much time as you need — there's no rush.
Can I bring my child with me on the tour?
Absolutely — we encourage it. There is no better way to see whether Little Scholars is the right fit than to watch your child's reaction when they walk through the door. Most children immediately want to explore the studios and outdoor spaces.
Is there any cost involved in booking a tour?
No — tours are completely free. Book online using the form above, or call us on 1300 896 139 and we'll arrange a time that suits your family across any of our 17 campuses in the Gold Coast, in Brisbane, Ipswich or Redland Bay.
What age groups do you cater for?
Little Scholars caters for children from 6 weeks through to 5 years across all 17 campuses — Nursery (6 weeks–15 months), Toddler Programs (15 months–2 years), Junior and Senior Kindy (2–4 years), and our Queensland Government-approved Kindergarten program (4–5 years). Before and After School Care and Vacation Care is also available at select campuses.
Will my family qualify for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?
Most Australian families who use approved childcare are eligible for the CCS, which can cover up to 90% of childcare fees depending on household income and days attended. Our team will walk you through your entitlements during your tour, or use our CCS Calculator before you visit to get an estimate.
What should I ask when visiting a childcare centre?
Great questions to ask: How are children grouped by age? What does a typical day look like? How do educators communicate with parents? What is the staff-to-child ratio? How do you handle the settling-in period? What qualifications do your educators hold? Are there any additional fees for meals or extracurriculars? We encourage families to ask us anything — nothing is off limits.
Are Little Scholars campuses NQS rated?
All 17 Little Scholars campuses are assessed and approved under the National Quality Standard (NQS). Six of our campuses hold the highest possible rating — Exceeding NQS — as assessed by ACECQA: Ashmore, Burleigh, Nerang, Parkwood, Deception Bay and our Brisbane City campus on George Street.
What is The Collective curriculum?
The Collective is Little Scholars' in-house curriculum — an emergent, child-led, play-based approach to early learning aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). It is designed to nurture each child's natural curiosity, build critical thinking and creativity, and develop the social-emotional skills children need to thrive at school and in life.
Do you offer a Queensland Kindergarten program?
Yes. All Little Scholars campuses offer a Queensland Government-approved Kindergarten program delivered by qualified early childhood teachers. Queensland Free Kindy funding is available for eligible children, which can significantly reduce the cost of the kindergarten year for families. Ask our team about eligibility during your tour.
What happens after the tour — how do I enrol?
After your tour, your campus manager will send through enrolment information and confirm availability for your preferred start date and session days. You can complete your enrolment online or at the campus — the whole process is straightforward and our team supports you every step of the way. We recommend booking your tour as early as possible to secure your preferred placement, especially for the start of each school year.
