Home away from home

Little Scholars Redland Bay aims to make every child and family feel comfortable and “at home” when they arrive at our front door.

Our centre is overlooked by large, leafy established tress which provide shade and adventure for the children. We have oversized natural playgrounds and a water park in keeping with our seaside location and theme. Our beautiful centre is wrapped in oversized veranda’s allowing a flexible indoor/outdoor program that is led by the children.

Natural sandstone, real thick & green grass and extensive portable play equipment makes our outdoor learning environment the very best in adventure pathways for children to explore, grown, play and learn.  All of our playgrounds are professionally designed and separated for each age group.

Along with a sustainable garden area complete with vegetable patch, water tank, compost and worm farm we are educating our little ones about future and eco- friendly ways to live.

We have a dedicated animal farm that is separate to the play area that allows children to interact with and care for animals. We also use the eggs from the chickens for cooking class.

Everything from the architecture to the décor has been designed with kids in mind – creating a colourful and friendly environment where your children will feel safe, happy and engaged. Our foyer and parent lounge offers reading materials, comfy chairs, I pad’s and a coffee machine for our families to relax and spend as much time in our centre as they decide.

What to expect!

At Little Scholars, we realise that your child’s first day at child care can be a daunting experience – which is why our centre has been designed to look homely and inviting.

Our Centre Manager will be there to greet you both, and to show your child to their classroom. You will be able to see what’s on the menu for the day by checking the blackboard, and information IPad and then you can check on your child’s progress throughout the day by accessing our very own Little Scholars App.

Our educators specially trained and are here to make your child feel safe and secure whilst here and help nurture them to their full potential.

They will regularly update you on your child’s day and progress within the room and they are always available to further discuss any questions that you may have. Our centres are continually involved in community activities and often host parent networking events and organise external activities open to families and friends along with the broader community – be sure to get involved.

We provide early learning & care to these groups:

Nursery Rooms (0-2 Year Olds)

Catering to the littlest members of the Little Scholars family, the Nursery room is fully equipped to look after babies from 0-2 years of age.

The rooms have areas for young babies to feel cozy, relaxed and comfortable as well as large windows and expansive side deck to view the gardens from the front of the centre as well as activities set up daily here and inside to evoke interest and enjoyment for the babies as well as challenge each child in their learning and development journey.

Early Learners Environment (2-3 year olds)

We’ve got space for Early Learners at Little Scholars Redland Bay, the most adventurous of all. This is where the Little Scholars curriculum gently introduces some more advanced concepts, designed to give your children confidence when they eventually start school.

Within each Early Learners room will be a range of toys, games and educational aids. Your children will be encouraged to explore and play, whilst learning how to be considerate towards their peers and their Educators.

The Early Learners also get their own child-friendly bathroom, and assistance with toilet training can be provided if it is required.

We have large sliding doors that open to our huge outdoor verandah and outdoor play area that is available at all times to the children.

Senior Kindy (3-4 Year Olds)

Our Senior Kindy room caters for children who are 3 years to 4 years old. Our Pre-Kinder program is led by qualified educators, maintaining the value of play and focus on learning as it best suits the individual child. We take an enthusiastic approach designed to motivate the children in a fun and exciting way to learn some very important skills to assist each child to transition to kindergarten successfully.

Developmental goals and objectives for children in the Senior Kindy room are supported by our tailored programs and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

Kindergarten Classroom (4-5 year olds)

Little Scholars Redland Bay offers a QLD government approved Kindergarten program that is dedicated to preparing children for school and beyond. Following our proven curriculum, our Little Scholars are taught the skills they need to feel comfortable and confident when they start school.

We don’t just focus on academic skills – other activities such as art, music and dance are all included to help each child discover their individual talents and strengths.

In our Kindergarten room, you’ll find educational interactive whiteboard areas, toys, books, and science and construction zones. Plus, they have their own bathroom nearby.

Our Kindergarten class even has their own dedicated natural adventure play area, as we believe learning happens everywhere not just in a classroom.

We also have a Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teacher operating the Kindergarten program on a daily basis.

Dining at Little Scholars

The Little Scholars Nutrition program includes a 4 week rotating seasonal menu that meets children's needs, taking into account nutritional and energy requirements as well as cultural and health needs. We have our very own qualified chef who is preparing the very best meals with market fresh ingredients, on site, in a state of the art kitchen. Each Little Scholars is served 5 meals each day including breakfast (before 7am), morning tea, lunch afternoon tea and a late snack (after 5pm).

At Little Scholars, we offer nutritional advice for children and families throughout the year via seminars and talks. Plus, any parent can ask to know more about nutrition for the child and what our program includes at any time.

We have a Little Scholars cook book that was created with all of the Little Scholars families and children.

Outdoor Play Area

Physical activity, including sports, dance and yoga, is built into the Little Scholars curriculum. The outdoor play area makes it extra fun – with a bicycle track and cubby houses complete with water play, herbs and vegetables gardens, mud play and nature walks.

We use water tanks, worm farms and composting bins to teach the children about sustainability and use these for our very own gardens.

All of our play equipment has been custom built from eco-friendly materials, and the shaded areas provide cool places to play on hot days, and shelter from the elements when it’s raining.

We’ll make sure that your children are always wearing their Little Scholars hats while they’re outside, and we’ll also provide constant supervision to make sure they are always safe and happy.
